Rev. Jeff Ownby
Owner, Above the Mist Wedding and Events
Reverend Jeff Ownby is a native and life-long resident of Gatlinburg. He was born in a doctor's office on the Parkway in Gatlinburg to Eugene and Sue Ownby, descendants of Martha Jane Huskey Ogle and John Ownby, settlers in Gatlinburg (White Oak Flats) and Greenbrier in the early 1800's. Rev. Jeff is a graduate of Pi Beta Phi, Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and Tennessee Tech University. He is married to the love of his life, Megan Dolan Ownby, and together they have six children — Jared, Erin (with whom he is Dancing for United Way), Destiney, Ryan Grace, Rylee, and Reese — and nine grandchildren.
Megan and Jeff own and operate Above the Mist Weddings and Events, and their three youngest daughters own and operate the Gatlinburg Grind Coffee and Bakery shop. Rev. Jeff was raised and still lives in the Arts and Crafts community in the Glades area of Gatlinburg. His dad was a wood carver and his mom and grandmother owned and operated a weaving shop.
Rev. Jeff was called into the Gospel ministry in 1985 and has ministered through Bible teaching for over 40 years. He has a degree in Industrial Engineering and has worked as the Gatlinburg City Planner, the Sevier County Planning Director, and has served as an elected Gatlinburg commissioner and Gatlinburg's Mayor. His servant's heart has also guided him to be a member, board member, and Past President of the Gatlinburg Rotary Club, where he still serves with his wife Megan and daughter Ryan Grace. He also serves on the Sevier County Young Life board and is a small group leader and choir member at Connect Church Sevierville. Rev. Jeff served as Pastor of Pinnacle Bible Church for 18 years and has been privileged and blessed to officiate approximately 10,000 weddings over the last 28 years.
In Rev. Jeff and Erin, you will see a great passion for loving and serving their family and community, and for having fun while doing so. They are honored to dance for Sevier County United Way, for the benefit of so many Sevier Countians.
