Whit Helton, Ed.D., Sevier County School System
Whit Helton works for the Sevier County School System as an instructional supervisor for grades 7-12. He is married to Sally Helton and they have two children, John and Erin Tate. He honed his dance skills in the late 1990s while a student at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, a time when UT was designated as the number 1 party school in the nation. Unfortunately, Whit graduated in 2001 with a degree in Business Administration and the school fell out of the rankings. Whit chose to pursue a career in education and holds a master’s degree from UT-Martin and educational specialist and doctorate degrees from Lincoln Memorial University. He rekindled his love of dancing in 2016 during a dance-off battle in the kitchen waiting for pasta to boil before dinner. He was inspired to dance to honor the memory of his late father, Mike Helton, who always had the best dance moves at weddings and to cement his status as being the most embarrassing dancer his family knows.
